Our Beliefs

Built on the Rock . . .   a strong foundation

"He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken".   Ps. 62:2

Our desire is to know Christ, to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit and to make Him known to a lost world. The church is a place where we can love God in worship and fellowship, through ministering to one another.

"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together . . ." Heb. 10:24-25

The Inerrancy of Scripture

We believe the Bible is God’s Word. We believe in the inerrancy of Scripture, both the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired, infallible, and sufficient Word of God. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Tim 3:16-17

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are applicable for today exercised within scriptural guidelines. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by Whose indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (Romans 8:13-14, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20, Ephesians 4:30).

Salvation

We believe all people are sinners by nature, thereby separated from God and under condemnation. Salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all, by the grace of our Lord through faith in Jesus Christ.

(Rom. 3:23, Eph. 2:1-3, Rom. 5:8, 1 Jn 1:8-9)

The Rapture & Second Coming of Jesus Christ

We believe in the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of the church. We believe in the second coming of Christ with His saints, to rule on the earth at the end of the seven-year tribulation and the establishment of His Millennial kingdom. (Is. 26:20, 1 Thess. 1:10, Matt 24:29-31, Rev. 3:10)

The Triune God

God the Father

We believe in the one living and true God of the Bible, eternally existent in three separate persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory. We believe that Triune God created all, upholds all and governs all things. (Ps. 90:2, Jn. 3:16, Jn.4:24)

God the Son

We believe Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten Son, fully God and fully man. Born of a virgin, He lived a sinless life, leaving us an example to follow. He provided for the atonement, paid the price for our sins, by His substitutionary death on the cross, bodily resurrection, and ascension into heaven, and ever lives to make intercession for us. (Is. 7:14, Matt. I:23, Lk. 1:34-35, Jn. 1:1-2, Jn. 11:25 1 Cor. 15:3-4)

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit Who is the Power of God. He came to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Jesus Christ, in order to enable them to live according to His commands. We believe The Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and is an abiding helper, teacher and guide. (Acts 1:8, Jn 16:8-11, Heb. 9:14)

Meet Our Leadership

Pastor - Gary Barrow

Pastor Gary Barrow and his wife Tina grew up in southern California, met in high school, and married in 1984. In 1995, God opened doors for them to move to Oregon where they helped establish a Calvary Chapel in Corvallis. While working at Calvary Chapel Corvallis, Gary participated in several outreaches to Eastern Europe.

Eventually, Gary and Tina sensed the Lord calling them to move their family to Europe. After selling his Chiropractic practice, Gary and his family moved to Hungary where he taught at a Calvary Chapel Bible College. He also led other Bible studies and helped with church plants in both Hungary and neighboring Slovakia. They eventually moved to Germany, reaching out to the American military, the German people, and the international students in the area.

God moved the Barrow family back to Victorville in California. While attending Calvary Chapel Saving Grace in Yorba Linda, Gary began teaching via Skype at a Pastor’s College in South Asia. Over 30 church plants resulted from this ministry, and he now oversees Bible Colleges in South East Asia that are discipling and raising up future pastors. His wife Tina began to reach out to refugee women in Southern California through a ministry called Voice of the Refugees, for women who have fled their country.

The Barrow family moved to the Truckee area in 2020. Gary now serves as senior pastor of Calvary Chapel of Truckee where he continues to reach out to the community right here in Truckee.
